Places to Host Events: Aloft Houston Galleria

As a person who plans at least one event per month, I’m always finding myself on the quest for the perfect event space to host. A recent search led me to the Aloft Houston by the Galleria. I hosted my She Flies Solo – Women’s Travel Summit there on Saturday June 3rd.

The Aloft offers their beautiful WXYZ space for private events. This stylish and modern area is great for small-midsize events.  We had a group of 30, and it was just perfect for what we were doing.

It is important to note that this space is in the lobby, so there may be a little bit of traffic around the space, but the hotel was great about displaying signage to close the area off to through traffic, and it did not affect us in the least.

Working with the Aloft was seamless from start to finish. I met with Manager Max to view the space a little under two months in advance.  He explained the process and procedures for reserving the space, then forwarded me to Juliet for the actual booking. They do not have an onsite person who books the space, but working with Juliet was a breeze.

The Aloft does not have an onsite restaurant, so one has the option of setting up catering with one of the vendors that they work with, or booking your own caterer. I opted to book my own catering with Prestige Affairs Catering. The hotel requires a signed food waiver that stipulates the conditions for your caterer. Nothing out of the ordinary.

I stopped in a few days before the event to check on the AV and microphone. The WXYZ area has screens that one can hook a laptop up to. When I arrived they told me they had a microphone available for use (free of charge), but they were having issues with the microphone. Manager Jerry assured me that it would be ready to go on the day of the event… and it was. I arrived on the morning of the event to a microphone and speaker that the hotel went out and rented for us. They really went the extra mile to make sure that our needs were covered.

Aloft has the option of creating a signature drink to be handed out as guests arrived or having a bartender onsite. I didn’t use either, but both are great options to consider.

Setup was easy. Aloft’s caterer brought out plates, utensils and ice. The staff helped us set up the room in the arrangement that we wanted, and the event went off without a hitch.

I would definitely recommend this space to anyone looking to host an event for 30 people or less.

Note: I was not compensated in any form for this. Please contact hotel for pricing information.
